Debate Travels to San Antonio

The Red Devil Debate Team traveled to San Antonio to compete in the MacArthur TFA Tournament on September 25th and September 26th.   This was a very large tournament with over 25 schools participating.  Again, Rankin was the only Class A School in attendance.

The young debate team did extremely well.  Team members who attended were Avery Wyatt, Abbye Shattuck, MacKenzie Smith, Tres Davidson, and Cody Wyatt.  The debaters participated in Congressional Debate, Extemporaneous Speaking, Prose, Poetry, and Duet Acting.

Avery Wyatt made it to the Semi-finals round in Extemporaneous Speaking.  Tres Davidson and Cody Wyatt placed 3rdoverall in Duet Acting.

Mr. Gallardo stated “Once again the young group of students who travelled held their own against much larger and more experienced competitors.  I’m excited about the promise and determination these students have.”

The Red Devil Debate team will travel to Midland to compete in the Midland Lee TFA tournament on Saturday, October 17th.

“We had fun competing against bigger schools and I also enjoyed winning third place,” said Cody Wyatt, sophomore.

“I think I did better than my last tournament, and I also enjoyed working with Cody to bring the trophy home. I am really looking forward for the future season,” said Tres Davidson, sophomore.
